Jonathan Bones: Lead Pastor
Jonathan was married to his lovely wife Karen in 2009. Together they are blessed with three beautiful children: Lua, Elena, and Silas. Jonathan has a B.A. in Theology/Music from San Diego Christian College, an M.A. in Linguistics from San Diego State University, and an M.A. in Christian Ministry from Southern California Seminary. Jonathan served as youth pastor at MBC from 2010-2015, and has served in his current role as lead pastor since 2016. His prayer is that he will be an aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing (2 Corinthians 2:15). He enjoys spending time outdoors, surfing, skateboarding, hiking, traveling, learning languages, playing music, and reading.
Luke VanNortwick: Associate Pastor
Luke and his beautiful wife named Hollie have three gorgeous children named Veronica (Ronnie), Elliott and Nora. Luke graduated from San Diego Christian College with a Interdisciplinary Bachelors Degree in Musical Performance and Biblical Studies. He has been involved in Music Ministry for more than 8 years and has lived in San Diego for most of his life. Luke’s desire is to use worship as a vessel to draw people, himself included, into an attitude of worship towards our Lord and Savior. His hope for worship is that the congregation sing songs that mirror biblical truth.
Matt Fletscher: Youth and Outreach Director
Matthew and his beautiful wife, Lauren, got married in 2025. They met while they were both studying theology at California Baptist University in Riverside, CA. A week after graduating with a Bachelor's of Applied Theology, Matthew moved to the Lakeside area to serve as the Youth and Outreach Director here at Mapleview. He plans to further his academic career by getting an M.Div. and furthering his study in apologetics. Matthew's goal for youth and outreach is that by proclaiming the good news of Jesus to those around him, Christ would use him to make disciples who love Jesus, His church, His word, and have a desire to deepen their relationhip with the God who created them (Colossians 1:28). In his free time, Matthew enjoys being outdoors, making and trying different coffee recipes, playing volleyball and spikeball, and going on little day-trip dates with Lauren.
Samantha Simpson: Children's Ministry Director
Samantha is married to her husband Seth and together they have 4 handsome boys: Zaden (12), Zeke (10), Zowen (3) Zurich (>1) and a beautiful daughter named Zylie (5) as well as one on the way! Samantha and Seth were both born and raised local in the Alpine/Lakeside area. As a family they enjoy exploring outdoors, gardening, reading and crafts. Samantha has been in the Children's Ministry at Mapleview since 2018 and became Children’s Ministry Director in 2020. Previously, Samantha has been volunteering with children since 2009. Samantha’s desire is for each child to come to know the love of Jesus Christ and for each child to create a firm foundation and relationship with Him.
