50th Anniversary

Mapleview Baptist Church celebrates 50 years!
1959 - 2009
50th Anniversary
"Praise for the Past... Faith for the Future!"

God has touched lives through ministry at Mapleview for 50 years!
We had a grand celebration and reunion!

Here is a glimpse of what the weekend looked like:

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20

 FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 5:30p.m.:

FUN AT THE BAY!

We had an informal gathering down at the Bay,  Tidelands Park.  Located on the beautiful island of Coronado, Tidelands Park is situated near the foot of the Coronado Bridge. This was an opportunity to bring the family and friends down to the bay to play, talk and eat. A catered Mexican dinner from "Tacos y Gorditas" was enjoyed by all with delicious grilled chicken and beef tacos, rice, beans, salsa, guacamole and chips!
It was so good to see so many friends and members, past and present!

Tidelands Park has a wonderful playground and  huge areas of grass with plenty of room for games like Bocce ball, football, volleyball and more! Children especially enjoyed playing on the playground throughout the evening.

There is a small beach area for fun in the sand and many enjoyed the bay on the water with kayaks and canoes.

COMEDY CAFE!

Laughter is such great medicine! A very funny and delightful evening was enjoyed by all. Delicious coffee and dessert and great, clean comedy from Michael Jr., a Christian professional comdian, provided a special event with family and firends! We even witnessed a proposal on stage from Jesse to Sage. Congratulations!

A Special children's Program  from Indian Hills Camp was provided for children ages 5 years old through 6th grade.  Thank you Curly for a wonderful program for the kids!

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 10:00AM:

WORSHIP SERVICE CELEBRATION!

Praise for the Past...Faith for the Future!
God is so faithful and worthy to be praised! This was a grand reunion of past and present members, family, friends, pastors,  music leaders, youth pastors, and more!

Following the service was a fantastic pit BBQ lunch with all the trimmings. Live music was provided by Wayne Rice and the Lighthouse, a bluegrass band. There were umpees, games and our new playground for the kids. What a precious time together!

The Lighthouse, a  bluegrass band,  has been performing around San Diego for more then 15 years. They chose their name to identify themselves with San Diego and its famous lighthouse on Point Loma and also with their passion for gospel music. "For God, who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness,' has made His light shine in our hearts"....2 Cor. 4:6
